Dance and get down with us at our Sabor Session!
Join us at the Helms Bakery Plaza as we move through and embody social dance practices rooted in the African and Afro-Latine Diaspora. These ancestral movement practices were designed and passed down to build resilience, affirm joy, instill hope, and to strengthen social and political resistance. From line dancing to comparsa processions from freestyling to Salsa; from cyphering to partnering - our sabor sessions will remind you of your strength, of our complexities as human beings, and your deep connection to others and the world around you.
Be ready to move your body and join our movement procession from the plaza into the gallery space to view our photography exhibition of CAŃA that was captured by Farah Sosa. The exhibition runs through November 20th.
Note: Dance experience is NOT required and is open to all ages. Just bring yourself, comfortable shoes, and an open heart. Join us in building, creating, and imagining the future of this work.
Spots are limited. RSVP to reserve your spot via this link
In addition to this event, join us for other events and our photography exhibition show of “CAÑA” by artist Farah Sosa during our 2 week residency at Helms Bakery.
