The Springfield College Dance Program hosts a Community “Get-Down” with Ana María Alvarez!
Please join us for a joyous community dance jam that is free and open to all.
Guest artist, Ana Maria Alvarez, founding artistic director of Los Angels-based dance company CONTRA-TIEMPO, will lead participants in various Afro-latin and urban forms, salsa, rumba, samba, and hip-hop grooves. Together, we embody joy as a tool to build comunity. All are welcome. No dance experience necessary. Move with us or participate as an observer.
This community class will also serve as the audition for anyone interested in experiencing the full weekend residency October 25-27. Throughout the three days, participants wil learn an excerpt from CONTRA-TIEMPO’s “joyUS justUS” that will be performed in the Community Dance Concert from December 6-8, 2024. More details will be provided at the audition for those interested.
